ANNUAL GENERAL MEETINGOur 2019 Annual General meeting is to be held on April 2nd 2019 7.30 at the Queens Kilnhurst Road. Unfortunately the venue has been changed due to unforeseen circumstances There will be snacks as usual.Report of our February 2019 Comitee meeting.FinanceThe last financial year was finished with a slight loss in our funds of under £200.00. This was much better than the previous year even though money has been spent on various site works. Already we have a number of Birthday parties booked which of course needs your support to manage them on the day. It is hoped that finances can be brought back into surplus in this next financial year.Program of WorksA number of projects were discussed, agreed and prioritised as below ;-1) Wren. Last year we had some problems with injecting water. We also had problems with the mechanical water pump. It was decided to fit a new much more powerful axle driven pump. This has now been manufactured and is in the process of being fitted. There were some problems with some of the driving wheel pins. These have now been replaced. As it is important that this be ready for our birthday parties it has assumed the highest of priorities.2) Green Dragon. As we have had some problems with the carburettor causing the engine to let us down during a party, it has been agreed to purchase a brand new spare engine.3) The raised track has never been user friendly due access issues and difficulty storing the four riding cars when small locomotives are in use. This situation was discussed between members and a decision was made to completely update the steaming bays as follows. a) Steaming rails to be raised to waist level and slightly moved in position.b) An extended steaming rails to allow us to park riding cars. This easily allows members to chose how many cars they wish to pull without having to remove them from the tracks.c) The track will be split at the traverser so the traverser can fill the gap. This will allow spare riding cars to be pushed onto the traverser and moved and parked on an extended steaming rail.d) The flat area around the bays will be extended and paved with flagstones. This will allow cars and trailers to get right in. An addition traverser will be built to move Locomotives from the car to the required rail. This work has already started with ground works being dug out. Drawings for the changes have been completed and steel has been purchased.4) The issue of brakes on the riding cars is to be re examined. A decision has to be made to use either vacuum or pressure. It was decided to look at what other clubs used to get more information.5) The raised tracks have had their square edges radiused off by grinding and polishing. This was a significant job and our thanks goes to the member involved.6) A general clean up of the site is required.7) The tunnel door needs re painting.8) The toilet floor needs re painting.
